Steady stream of Slovenian Smoke Screen successes

During the second weekend in October a burglary was prevented in an OMV petrol station in Ljubljana. CCTV footage hasn't revealed much, but is still tantalising: the burglars flip up the CCTV cameras and therefore only a few key incidents can be seen, the swings of a pick-axe and of course the smoke billowing out shortly afterwards heralding the flight of the burglars.

Official reports suggest that they broke in through the first set of doors and disabled the cameras in the corridor before leaving and returning 20 minutes later. There was no trigger in the corridor so the alarm and the smoke didn't go off until they destroyed the lock on the inside door that lead to a room with an ATM machine.

In just one night (from Thursday 11th November to the Friday) Smoke Screen prevented three burglaries on three different OMV petrol stations with zero loss reported on each one.

Also in November, a black vehicle drew up outside a petrol station. Four masked men armed with sledgehammers and pick-axes got out and forced their way in. We also notched up our first prevented robbery in Slovenia on the 30th December. Two masked criminals entered a small jewellers in the middle of the day, armed with silenced handguns. They threatened and attacked the store owner who struggled with one of the assailants, bravely holding onto his gun and pressing the panic keyfob activating the Smoke Screen. The robbers immediately fled the scene empty-handed and leaving everyone unharmed. The store owner, whose mother was present during the incident, said, 'It was a shocking experience, but my investment (in Smoke Screen) paid for itself several times over in just a few seconds.'
